the phrase 'involuntary staff reduction' has come to light in this forum link. does that mean that some of the team members have been fired or laid off? is this why we have not seen luke or others here on the english forum? i see many questions unanswered here and i try to give aid when possible, but i am not on the staff or a moderator. and i can only limit my help to philatelic and few other topics. please be honest with the delcampe community and give us an updated ascessment of the situation. thank you.

Cajjy,'involuntary staff reduction'normally comes about when something goes wrong ie The Delcampe Crash.
The staff are normally to blame as usual. With inexperienced staff it is hard to find 'good alrounders'.
Then again it would be nice to know what is happening but do we query what happened to staff at are local Bank, really it has nothing to do with us.
We can only complain/suggest what the hell`s going on and when will we be better served as Customers

hey bdog,
maybe you is smarter than the average bear. that's what my pop, an air force pharmacist, always told me to be. and yogi bear.
hi bdog,
actually, he was named after yogi berra, the famous ny yankee catcher. the creators, hanna/barbera were from new york. yogi lived in jellystone park, a fictious spinoff of yellowstone park and its famous trashcan moochin' bears. i watched these cartoons as a kid in the late 50's. i own the dvd's now and still watch them on cable tv. i'm still a big kid at heart. always will be.

When I joined delcampe recently, I had a very nice letter from a lady called Evelyne who is responsible for the English-speaking community, and she promised to answer personally any questions I might have. Im sure that if you ask her about this Luke, or anything else which is troubling you, she will be pleased to reply. She writes Do not hesitate to contact me and I will help you the best way possible. So there seems to be no problem in fact you only have to ask. Hope this helps.

Then why are you being so ungentlemanly as to complain about so many questions unanswered ? If you recognise that the team has great dedication and Evelyne is a wonderful person, why are you appealing to them to be honest ? Either Im missing something, or you were just trying to stir up trouble when you started this on 28th January. Do you still feel the same way or not ? I am a cautious newcomer, but Delcampe seems OK to me.

hi BK,
i would not say that i am not being discourteous to the delcampe team by questioning why there is a reduction in the staff and that news has not being shared with the delcampe members. luke was hired to replace pascal, the english site manager who left without reasons given; and now he has disappeared for some odd reason. and evelyne has replaced him as the english site contact. by the by, the link given in my first thread was from a member of the delcampe staff which eluded to the staff reductions. and what has happened to the moderators. all i see is a brief appearance from sebastien and from the moneybookers representative, but no others. the result has been a limited contact on the english site by the english speakers. and i am afraid this runs true to the other sites as well other than the french forum. i surely am most happy to participate in the philatelic forums where my expertise is best served. and others if i can provide an adequate answer from my experiences from my years here on delcampe. i wish you the same good luck with your endeavors whether selling or buying on delcampe.

Having looked further into this now, not without some diligence, I believe quite strongly that it was not inappropriate for Cajunsr to bring into better public focus his perceived concern about the sudden departures of Pascal and Luke. What I most fail to understand is why Evelyne does not simply answer his questions, as promised. This seems to me to be an abrogation of the pledge which is made so invitingly and welcomingly to new members, and it is not a good sign of the way the company can be expected to do business. I am becoming disillusioned before I even start.
Let us hope that this has been a mere oversight, a temporary delay, and that Evelyne or some other responsible member of the staff will be open about matters which seem to be of not a little concern to some members.

hey bdog,
not all you brits live in oxford you know. and the ones with some education are certainly elsewhere in the big 'UK'. even my brother, an international lawyer, has a law office in london. it could be one of his employees as i have told him about delcampe and he has bought coins here with my help. who knows. but you know me, i help out anyone that comes here. just assisted another one of your countrymen with a coin they wanted assessed. at least you guys are gettin' on the delcampe map finally, so don't complain.

Actually, Blackstock Road is in Finsbury Park in London N4, not in Oxford. My bus is going to Acton.
But I must admit that some of this rather posh phrasing is not my own ! I borrowed it from the Archbishop of Canterbury, who does have connections with Oxford, so top marks !
If we can attempt to speak for the liberties and consciences of others on delcampe, as well as our own, we shall, I believe, be doing something we as delcampe members are called to do in the name of good relations on delcampe, not compromising its reputation but enhancing it.
I hope that Evelyne and the others will understand this. As the quotable archbishop says:
We ought to be doing some reflecting together. We must of course take responsibility for any unclarity and for any misleading choice of words that's helped to cause distress or misunderstanding among the public at large, and especially among fellow delacampers.

Perhaps the answer as to why the Delcampe staff seem to ignore comments from the English speaking users is that we are such a small part of their Organisation -

hi james,
well, all i can say is if one is paid by the performance of the site's languange and you are that site's representative eg. the U.K./U.S., you better have another parttime job at walmart. maybe pascal and luke are now greeters there? a good week to you mon ami.

But does this include English-speaking people buying things from French-speaking people ? That could be considerably more. When I joined delcampe, I was contemplating buying foreign things from foreigners, not buying things from British or American people, which I can easily do elsewhere.
It would be nice if Evelyne could give us some figures for purchases by English-speaking members. I assume she is reading this, and it would be nice to hear from her, even if only to say that such figures are not available.
Please, Evelyne, tell us one way or the other. It is a perfectly legitimate query.
You do seem a little bit elusive, Cajunsr is right about that.

We have had some great assistence from Christine, and all sounds very pleasant & helpful encouragement.
As I have said on another post, its Europe/US that seems to be the mainsaty so far, (can see that from the figures) but rather than get troubled about the lack of Brits, we need to promote it in our own backyard & get more to work with it, & either get eBayers to double up or move over, depending on what they/you sell, it can be good for some topics. Would be good to see figures related to which country were the buyers too. Members figures & sold items could be assessed to give us Brits a chance to see how many of the few here have a chance to sell to other countries, & are they looking?
There is a high ranking seller that has been on ebay, & has done finacially better on Delcampe, and says if you have an item that is not on or few of you will do better than being one of hundreds being listed I can agree that you have a better chance of the sale, but it still has to be something in which someone is actually looking for in a title description.
When I visit real auctions I go to specialist ones, like for postcards or toys, not house clearence sales, although the odd bit does turn up.
Specialist auctions I think are a more concentrated buyer/seller way than getting far tool big & trying to cover everything.

Yes, indeed we are a small team and try to help as good as we can all our members.
Presently Christine is the main contact for english written emails.
She is mainly responsible of our German Community but helps you too until we find the new english-speaking coworker we are now looking for. ( Link (http) )

Dear James,
We never ignore comments from our users. Wether they speak any language does not matter.
We have worldwide contacts with a lot of collectors and enjoy these a lot. You know, the french users (our biggest community) see us too rarely on forum too.

Too bad this isn't a work from home job, Seb.
I'm sure you would find an excellent candidate right away if it were.
Hint: look at the language flags next to my user name.
