I am in possesion of 4 unused postcards from the golden era, they were left to me after the death of a family member. I was able to identify one card of 3 related to the beer capital Milwaukee, WI; 1909, I'm trying to ID THE 4th card, I don"t have any pics at this time, so I"ll give a brief description; it is in black and white, a white border, non divided back, a pic of a slain white lion lying on a stone ledge among spear and shield, battle axe. The text on bottom front is printed in latin, I can barely read it but I'll try to covey the text: DIE X AUGUSTI II ET. III SEPTEMBRIS MDCCXCII. HAEO SUNT NOMINA EORUM QUI. SACRAMENTI FIDEM FALLERENT, some smaller text I have trouble reading, also some red numbers on lower left 2534, and centered on bottom in red, Luzern- Lowendenkmal. On the back top center Carte Postale, below that, across length of card is printed: Union postale universelle.--- Weltpostverein.--- Unione postale universale, centered under that is printed Nur fur die Adresse. I hope thats not too confusing. I am in process of converting postcards to view on internet. Any info to ID this card would be appreciated thanks RAYZAP

This would be the Lion Monument in Luzern (Engish Lucerne), Switzerland. :znaika: According to my Lonely Planet guidebook, it commemorates Swiss soldiers who died defending King Lous XVI and family during the French Revolution. :fight2:

Thank you for your info and diligence in answering my query. I'm wondering how rare a postcard this could be, as I am still looking to view it elsewhere on the internet. Thanks again

Postcards with popular tourist attractions like this are quite common.

Thank you again Bjornmu, I did research the lion monument at Lucerne, Switzerland, and was able to view this card on net and get an idea of its value. I must say I'm surprised that these old cards are not worth more! I guess I'll hang on to it indefinitely. Thanks again for your comments, they really helped. RAYZAP
