Hi Smuf,

Nothing personal but I don't think That those comments answer any questions nor does that help at all.

There is a problem with the Delampe site.

It IS affecting customers ability to navigate the website.

The Delcampe website is almost impossible for US users to use from 11:00 to 5 EST EVERY SINGLE DAY.

Page not available messages are a regular feature.... this drives away new customers.

It destroys the reputation of the website.

And last it hurts sales for dealers (Like me).

Answers are needed so that dealers like myself can keep new customers interested in the Delcampe website while it's problems are worked out.

Part of having a superior website (Like Delcampe) is communication in a TIMELY manner, not just when the comments of feed up users clog the message boards.

I agree with Steve. We need answers and solutions and not platitudes. While I don't like to complain, it is only human nature to do so when it requires the patience of a saint sometimes to access Delcampe.

I think the Delcampe dealers have been very patient and understanding so far about the attempted upgrades. The problem is, the work is not finished and we have more questions than answers as to when we might expect smooth sailing here again. But we DO want to see this site work because many of us are sick of eBay USA and its increasingly preposterous attempts to prop up flagging sales there. Delcampe has had a golden opportunity in the past year, when it comes to growing as an auction site. We don't want to see the opportunities for growth crippled by problems.

The frustration that some of us are feeling is no doubt representative of the feelings of many Delcampe users. As I mentioned in another post, I find it very interesting that Scview - the largest postcard dealer on Delcampe - is every bit as frustrated as us less stellar sellers are. His frustration must be multiplied many times over from what mine is.

Steve, let's have a beer and maybe when we're done, the site will be working smoothly again.

Sebastien, etc., please explain what is going on, so that we will not have to wonder and we can happily return to...listing postcards.

There are lots of things very right at delcampe too.

The enthusiasm and dedication of Sebatsian and his team for one thing.
The friendly attitude of most of the members.

Your attitude is too commercial. This is not big-business American style. It is much more a sort of co-ooperative or soviet of lilke-minded European citizens, for the most part. You are welcome here of course, but you need to behave courteously. This is the Belgian way.

Relax a bit. If it's busy, be more patient, or come back later. Life is too short for all this fuss. Make a cup of tea. Chat to your neighbours. Play with the cat. Go for a walk. Listen to some Mozart.

But please don't keep harassing Sebastian like this. He already has a lot on his plate. It's positiively curmudgeonly of you.

Hello,

I agree with you Liard.

if you google "Delcampe", the first sentence you will find is a "collectors of all over the world.." : Collectors site, not ... Dealers.

Negativity will not bring us a bit further anyway.

You're right.

But someone is going to say that there would be no collectors without dealers. I'm not sure that is absolutley true. The rather amateur dealing of many collecting delcampers amounts almost to a sort of swapping, facilitated by money and the internet.

However, there is room for everybody, unless of course they demand instant access to oodles of room in the big computer in Brussels at any time of day or night.

Look, realising that not everyone is good at Flemish (though it's really quite easy for English-speaking people), I fed that picture into the notorious Fish
Translator and came up with a perfect result first time !

What more could you possibly ask for ?

Hello all,

I know there are lot of questions and fears. I see them on this forum and on the other ones too. The present situation is not as easy at all. My team and I are working a lot to give you full pleasure again as soon as possible. Believe me, all our time is spent to improve the situation.

I hope to be able to give you some technical news as soon as possible, really.

I thank you for your support and comprehension. We will manage for you and us a brighter future. The Delcampe Collectors Community is well #1 worldwide and we will manage to keep the right way.

Our stats are very good for this holiday time and I am really happy to feel such a support from our passionate members. I am myself not satisfied with the technical situation and understand the members who ask or complain.

Best regards, Seb Delcampe

Thanks, Seb, for the response. It's good to see you posting here. (I'm headed over to the French forum after posting this to see what else you have to say there!)

While I'm more like Liard's 'typical Belgian collector' -- relaxed and not worried if I can't get on once a day, I fully understand Stefano's predicament. (Ironically, I met Stefano in 1994 when I returned from living in Antwerp :) )

It's not just "dealers vs. collectors"--who do you think Stefano's customers are? They're collectors.

He's saying he recommends D* to them but they report back that the site is unreachable or too slow. Seb is also posting that he realizes that there are still some problems.

I have every expectation that things will get back to pre-June speed; perhaps following some of Stefano's advice would make this sooner rather than later and prevent it from happening again.

So to make it easy for Loading List etc,. I`m away for 4 months and will not be selling new stuff. :applause: :applause: :applause: .
Normally I`m on Delcampe 5 hours per day GMT, but between 2100-0200 the site works better.Mondays are always bad and of course Weekends because all the business clock on Monday and at the Weekend (bad weather winter)the computer/hobby freaks are on.
As a Gold member I support Seb and if everyone did and he received more cash, then he has no excuses more :znaika: :znaika:
and remember its a Hobby and to sell /business to make takes time /reputation and more.Nobody can overnight make a killing so earn the small money for a beer and pay the Fees.
 See you all and you Smuft aka Linda in 4 months
